13-week cash flow forecast

A rolling 13-week cash flow forecast, ready in minutes

The 13-week cash flow forecast is the standard short-term planning tool used by finance teams, lenders and turnaround advisers. Thirteen weeks is one quarter: long enough to see the next payroll cycles, tax dates and large supplier payments, and short enough to estimate with real confidence.

Why 13 weeks?

Monthly forecasts hide the timing inside the month. If payroll goes out on the 1st and your largest customer pays on the 28th, a monthly total can look fine while the account is overdrawn for three weeks. Weekly buckets expose that gap.

Beyond about a quarter, individual receipts and payments become guesses. Thirteen weeks keeps the forecast grounded in invoices, contracts and schedules you actually know about.

What the CashSoft 13-week view shows

  • Opening cash, total receipts, total payments and closing cash for each of the next 13 weeks.
  • The lowest projected balance and the week it occurs.
  • Weeks that fall below your safety threshold, highlighted automatically.
  • Recurring items such as payroll and rent placed in the right week, including month-end dates.

Keep it rolling

A 13-week forecast is only useful if it stays current. Each week, mark what was actually received and paid, add new items and let the window move forward. The Actual vs Forecast view shows how accurate previous estimates were, so your next forecast gets better.

Share it with your bank or adviser

Export the forecast to Excel or a print-ready PDF with your company name, period and currency. Lenders often ask for exactly this format when reviewing a credit line.
